What works where: Instagram vs TikTok

Instagram works worldwide through Meta's official API. When someone comments your keyword (or any comment, if you choose), ChattyFlow sends a private reply within seconds, because Meta notifies it the moment the comment arrives.

TikTok sets two limits. Its comment-to-DM bridge only exists for accounts in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, so in most countries the buyer has to send the first DM. And the TikTok Business Messaging API offers no DM automation in the United States, the EEA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. Public replies to comments work everywhere.

With cash on delivery, every refused parcel costs you, so catch bad orders in the DM, before you ship.

• Comment or DM. Give each product one word, shown on screen and in the caption (ORDER, COMMANDE, «اطلب»). On TikTok, add the spellings people really type as keyword variants.
• Order form in the DM. On Instagram, Simple mode sends the form as the opening DM; Advanced mode can add a Capture Response step, so the flow waits up to 24 hours for the buyer's typed answer and then continues. On TikTok, put the form in a Comment to Trigger automation (“What they receive when they write to you”): whatever the buyer types first within 7 days of commenting, they get it. A DM → DM automation sends it when they message your keyword.
• Confirmation. The answers arrive in your Instagram or TikTok inbox: send back a summary with the total to pay in cash and wait for an explicit yes. For a new buyer or a large order, call too.
• Delivery. Hand the parcel to your courier and tell the buyer the expected day and that the courier will call.
• Returns. When a parcel comes back, record it and ask why. On TikTok, the Leads tab keeps the outcome next to each buyer.

Confirmation message templates

Replace the brackets. The first two go into your automations; send the others yourself after reading the answer.

• TikTok public reply: “Your order form is ready 📩 Send us a DM, any word, and we'll send it to you.”
• Order form: “Thanks for ordering! 🛍️ Reply in one message with: 1) full name 2) phone number 3) city and area 4) full address with a landmark 5) size and colour. You pay cash on delivery.”
• Summary: “Thanks [name]! Your order: [product], size [size]. [price] + delivery [fee] = [total], paid in cash on delivery. Address: [address], [city]. Phone: [phone]. Reply YES to confirm, or tell us what to change.”
• After the yes: “Confirmed ✅ Your parcel leaves on [day]. The courier will call [phone] before delivering. Please have [total] ready in cash.”
• No answer yet: “Do you still want [product] in size [size]? Reply YES and we ship it. Changed your mind? No problem.”
• Parcel refused: “Your parcel came back to us. Was it the product, the price or the delivery day?”

Red flags for fake COD orders: a checklist

No single sign proves an order is fake. Two or more together are a reason to call before you ship.

• The phone number has the wrong number of digits for your country, or nobody answers the confirmation call.
• The address has no street, area or landmark, or the buyer only writes “call me when you arrive”.
• No explicit yes to your summary, or silence right after asking the price.
• Several orders in a short time from one number or account, especially for many sizes or quantities.
• The name, number or city changes between messages, or after you confirmed.
• The same number has already refused one of your parcels.
• Pressure to ship today, with no question about the product.
• A brand-new account with no activity, together with any sign above.

What ChattyFlow records about returns and fake buyers

The TikTok Leads tab lists every account that triggered one of your TikTok automations, grouped by video. Mark each one “Sold / service provided”, “Returned or refunded” or “Cancelled”; after a return, pick a face (good, neutral or bad experience) to log how it went. You see which videos bring buyers who keep their parcels.

These marks are private to your account. ChattyFlow does not share fake-buyer reports or phone blacklists between shops: your summary, a call and your own history are the filter. For Instagram orders, keep your own list, for example from your courier's return report.

The rules every step follows

Meta allows one private reply per comment, sent within 7 days of the comment. Once the buyer answers, you can keep messaging for 24 hours after their last message. ChattyFlow's DM builder follows this: one message per step until the buyer replies, and a Capture Response step waits for that reply.
